31 Mar Obituary – Franz Weber
Obituary
It was with great sadness and dismay that we learned of the sudden death of our longtime colleague and friend
Franz Weber
who passed away on March 22, 2025.
Franz Weber began his apprenticeship with us in August 1972 as a wholesale and retail merchant, which he successfully completed three years later.
Company founder Bernard Clemens recognized the sales talents of his new apprentice at an early stage. After a few years in internal sales, Franz Weber went to Vienna with his wife to set up the winegrowing equipment business for CLEMENS in Austria. With diligence, skill and his openness and competence, he quickly succeeded in gaining the trust of customers and operating successfully.
When he returned to Wittlich a few years later, he was responsible for the Eastern European and Russian markets, not only for winegrowing technology but also for cellar technology. He explored the wine-growing regions in South America and China for CLEMENS and built up sales structures that are still used successfully today.
With his specialist knowledge and practical experience, he significantly influenced the development of new products at CLEMENS. Franz Weber, who made his career from apprentice to authorized signatory and deputy managing director, was a role model worthy of imitation for the trainees.
For over 50 years, even long after his retirement, Franz Weber worked successfully for our company, supporting all three generations of the Clemens family with advice and support.
To the end, he was a very good colleague, a knowledgeable advisor, and, above all, a friend who was always willing to help.
We are all deeply saddened.
Our thoughts are with his family, whom we wish strength and God’s blessing.
